Inflammation

  • Most of us are familiar with inflammation. Classic signs are pain, swelling, redness, and heat.
  • Think about a bad sore throat, a swollen knee, or an infected fingernail.
  • In each case, the part of your body that’s affected is inflamed.
  • Inflammation is part of the body’s natural defense system again infection, irritation, toxins, and foreign molecules.
  • When your body detects problems like these, a cascade of events occurs in which white blood cells and chemicals called cytokines mobilize to protect your from foreign invaders.
  • However, when the natural balance of your immune system (which produces just enough inflammation to keep infections, allergens, toxins, or other stressors under control) is disrupted, the immune system shifts into a chronic state of alarm.
  • The part of your immune system that is designed to protect you from foreign invaders starts attacking the cells and tissues of your own body.
  • When this happens it can create major problems.
  • This fire in the heart causes heart disease, in our fat cells causes obesity, in the whole body causes cancer, in the eyes causes blindness, and, when this fire spreads to your brain, it can cause depression, dementia, autism, ADHD, Alzeihmer’s, forgetfulness, and a host of other problems.
  • The best way to maintain your health and wellness is to have a minimum two or three “clean eating” days a week although four to five days is preferable if you are trying to really improve your health.
  • This will give your body the time to heal from any strain put on it from eating products such as processed foods and sodas.
  • The constant assault of consuming these products daily without a rest means that the body never has a chance to recover and this can lead to inflammation and eventually disease in the body.
  • Eating clean for several days, preferably in a row, gives the body a chance to regenerate and rest.
